Annual Register's on a shelf in Seymour Library.

Seoul hosted the 1988 Summer Olympics, 2002 FIFA World Cup, and 2010 G-20 Seoul Summit. But its most enduring award is its designation as a UNESCO City of Design. There is no better place to study business, language, humanities, and more than in this lively center of design excellence and information technology. With the Seoul Mates program, university clubs and a variety of cultural excursions, the CIEE Arts and Sciences program gives you access to the multifaceted Korean culture and ensures an immersive international experience.

Study abroad in Seoul and you'll:

  • Take courses taught in English or Korean in international business, humanities, social sciences, and the arts; have access to intensive Korean language courses for all learning levels
  • Receive ongoing support, guidance and care provided by dedicated CIEE staff
  • Have access to the Yonsei School of Business (YSB) and its Creative Leadership Forum, which offers a series of discussions on investment banking, management consulting, media, and entrepreneurship
  • Interact with local studens thorugh CIEE's Seoul Mates program

In addition to an intensive Korean language class, you'll have access to a host of elective courses through direct enrollment in Yonsei University. From East Asian studies and business administration to communications, science and engineering, this program offers classes you need to satisfy major and minor requirements and to explore a wide variety of academic interests.

The program includes excursions. Possibilities include a visit to the wetlands of Suncheon; a trip to the Hwaomsa Temple to discover why and how lions are important symbols in Buddhism; an excursion to the tea fields of Mount Chirisan or to the traditional Hahoe Village in Andong for mask-dance dramas; and the Busan International Film Festival. The program offers many opportunities for volunteerism, including the possibility of working with North Korean refugee students to help them learn English or service in an nearby orphanage or senior citizens center.
