Applicants should have the equivalent of 4 semesters of college level French with a GPA of 3.0 in their language coursework. Students from any college or university may apply. Semester credit available.


The cost is based on Knox tuition, room and board per trimester. Program costs include:

  • Living arrangements
  • Meals and local bus transportation to Besançon
  • Health Insurance
  • All educational trips
  • Travel stipend for December and Spring break
  • Transportation to and from the airport


We offer several options including one term, a combination of two (2) terms (Fall/Winter or Winter/Spring), or a full year:

  • Full year: Early September - Early June (9-10 credits)
  • Fall: Early September - Late November (3-3.5 credits)
  • Fall-Winter: Early September - Mid-March (6-7 credits)
  • Winter-Spring: Early January - June 1 (6-7 Credits)


Each course taken equals one Knox College credit, which in turn translates into 3.3 semester hours. A full-time load is three (3) courses, although you may take an additional course for no extra fee.
