Green Oaks, which lies near the Spoon River in eastern Knox County, may be a remote, serene location, but it is equipped with facilities to accommodate visitors who are there for both research and recreation.
Completed in spring of 2025, the Knight Living & Learning Center features sleeping rooms for up to 16 students or guests, a small director’s suite, a large kitchen, modern bathrooms, and laundry facilities. The residential area of the Center is connected to the academic space with a four-season porch that provides additional flexible space for everything from gear storage to study groups and recreation.
The academic space of the Knight Living & Learning Center includes two classrooms with flexible furnishings that can be arranged to meet the needs of any program or event. Both classrooms are equipped with the technology to support classes, as well as ample storage and a restroom. The entire Center has heating and cooling.
Schurr Hall is also part of the grounds at Green Oaks. Recently renovated, the facility offers a classroom, laboratory, and residential building that comfortably accommodates 12 Knox students with its six bedrooms, library, bathrooms, lounge area and porch. The building also features a computer room, kitchen, and laundry room, and is equipped with central heating, a telephone, mail delivery and Internet service.
