Writing Coordinator, TRIO Achievement Program, Lecturer of English

Paul Marasa

General Interests
"As the writing coordinator for the TRIO Achievement Program (a federally funded TRIO Student Support Services project that supports the retention to graduation of students from modest income backgrounds and those whose parents do not have a four-year college degree), I work with students in all disciplines and at all levels in their writing at Knox. While my teaching focuses on First-Year Preceptorial and College Writing I & II, my experiences with students have developed an interest in a broad range of subjects. My particular passion, though, is film, both in appreciating the history of the medium and enjoying what essayist and social critic Robert Warshow famously calls the 'immediate experience' of film-watching.

My dedication to writing across the curriculum and my love of film have enlivened my professional life, both for myself and the students with whom I work."
