Knox Community Plans Events on Social Justice, Diversity, Inclusivity

Cristian Gorostieta '15 reads poetry at the 2014 Martin Luther King Day Convocation.

Knox faculty, students, and staff have a long tradition of participating in the major events of the day, and the current national discussion of race, equality and social justice is one in which our community is actively engaged. Knox College is committed to issues of social justice and the importance of diversity and inclusivity on campus and beyond.

Administrators and faculty, the Center for Intercultural Life, many student clubs and organizations, including ABLE (Allied Blacks for Liberty and Equality) and Union Board, Intergroup Dialogue, and the Student Senate Diversity Committee have identified ways to engage the campus in conversation and education. "I encourage all students, faculty, and staff to attend these events and actively participate in important campus discussions so we can all inform ourselves as members of the Knox community and serve as agents of wider change," said President Teresa Amott. "These events help us learn and grow together so that we can meet our goal of strengthening the campus culture of inclusivity and respect."
