Hamblin

Hamblin Hall is an apartment-style residence hall. In the summer of 2007, Knox College undertook an extensive renovation and expansion of the building. The college replaced all kitchens, bathrooms, and doors in existing apartments in addition to building new two- and four-person apartments and a lounge area on the ground level. The outside entrance and all lounges and common living areas were renovated in order to create a more inviting space for all students. A sprinkler system, new fire alarm system, and an elevator were also installed.

The building was named after Adolph "Ziggy" Hamblin, one of Knox's best all-around athletes and the only Knox student to win 16 varsity letters. After graduating from Knox in 1920, Hamblin became the head football coach at West Virginia State University, where he also had a distinguished career as director and professor in the department of biological science, botany, and zoology.
