Ranked #6 in the nation's college radio stations by The Princeton Review's annual college guide, "The Best 376 Colleges: The 2012 Edition," WVKC, Knox College's own station, allows students to learn the basics of being on the air.

About WVKC, The Voice of Knox College

  • WVKC is located on the top floor of George Davis Hall, an academic building on the Knox campus.
  • WVKC is always a commercial-free station.
  • You can broadcast to Knox College, the Galesburg community, and worldwide.
  • If someone is too far to hear you on the radio, they can listen to your show online.
  • The station is equipped with a turntable, a music library, CD player, and the means for you to broadcast your music from any format, be it a cassette, an iPod, or a record.

The college radio station is student-run, with student directors of punk, folk, hip-hop, world, techno, and pop music to ensure WVKC runs smoothly.

At Knox, you can host your own radio show each term, either solo or with friends. In a station with comfortable chairs, a lounge, and a set-up for at least two hosts at a time, the WVKC station can be a great place to relax and listen to music with friends after a long day of class, all while broadcasting to Galesburg and beyond.
