Yoga Way

In the hectic lifestyle of a Knox student, it is important that time is made to de-stress and take care of one's health. Between classes, extracurriculars, and dorm life, you might tend to neglect your physical fitness for a little while, or altogether.

With Yoga Way, you can reclaim an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. Yoga Way meets regularly on campus and continuously promotes:

  • fitness
  • a healthy lifestyle
  • inner wellness
  • peace
  • a way to deal with the daily stresses of college life

The group also strives to give its members a greater understanding of Hindu culture and practices. Yoga Way also makes a constant effort to foster a feeling of interconnectedness between humans and the world around them.

Health benefits of yoga

By regularly practicing yoga with Yoga Way, you will not only de-stress, but also gain a wide range of other health benefits, such as:

  • better sleeping patterns
  • easier weight control
  • improved balance
  • toned muscles
  • higher energy levels
  • a decrease in anxiety and depression

Yoga Way meets twice a week, and each session is different. Usually there is an informal session where the group watches videos or has other students teach new poses from other classes. There is also a more formal session, in which a certified instructor leads the class. Every term, Yoga Way schedules some special sessions with a guest instructor.

Every Reading Day, a session is offered that is designed to be especially relaxing and soothing, which closes with a power health food snack.

Even if you have never tried yoga before, there is no better time to start learning than now. Sessions are open to everyone in the community.
