College Debate Tournament

GALESBURG -- Knox College will host an intercollegiate debate tournament on Saturday and Sunday, March 20-21, on the Knox campus in Galesburg. As many as ten teams are expected to attend the National Invitation Tournament. The tournament is free and open to the public for viewing.

Matches will be held from 12:15 p.m. through 4:50 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9:15 a.m. through 11:45 a.m. Sunday, with the finals beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The tournament is directed by Ron Bronson, a student at Monmouth College, and coordinated by Jennifer Klinesmith of the Knox College debate team. More information is available by sending an e-mail message to nit@ishouldstudymore.net

In addition to the Knox debate team, other participating teams will include Washington University in St. Louis, Kenyon College, McKendree College, South Georgia College, and Texas A&M University at Kingsville. Washington, Kenyon and McKendree are all nationally ranked by the NPDA (National Parliamentary Debate Association)

Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 46 states and 50 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
