Knox's academic reputation of 3.0 on a 5-point scale is second-highest among liberal arts colleges in Illinois, and its overall ranking is the third highest among liberal arts colleges in the state. The reputation, based on a survey of college officials nationwide, is the largest single factor among the seven areas covered by the rankings.
"Knox's rankings, in this survey and others, are consistently strong in the areas of academic quality and educational value," said Lawrence Breitborde, Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Earlier this week, Knox was listed by the Princeton Review as number one in the nation for student satisfaction with scholarships and financial aid and among the top ten in academic quality and educational value. Princeton Review rankings are based on surveys of students at each school.
"Knox is a national liberal arts college and one of the best in Illinois," Breitborde said. "We believe in a liberal arts education as the best preparation for success in life and work, and this ranking confirms our position among the best colleges at doing that."
Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 45 states and 42 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
