A tornado WATCH means the conditions are favorable for a tornado to develop. During a tornado WATCH, students should pay particular attention to the weather as conditions can change in a matter of seconds.
If a tornado siren begins or a tornado WARNING is issued, it means a funnel cloud and/or tornado has been spotted and you should take cover immediately, preferably in a basement of a building and away from windows. After a tornado passes, wait for instructions from College personnel or city authorities. Always stay away from downed power lines or unsafe building areas.
REMEMBER: The tornado warning sounds for only 4 minutes and 30 seconds. Just because the siren ceases does not mean the warning is over. College personnel will notify you when the warning is over and we have received the all-clear notification.
