Greetings:

Like many of you, I listened to President Amott's Telephone Town Hall in March with great interest. It was thrilling to hear the energy and inquisitiveness Knox alumni retain, even decades after leaving Galesburg.

I couldn't help but notice that fully half of the questions asked related to the need for Knox to increase its investment in faculty, to expand scholarships and financial aid, and to make much-needed renovations to campus facilities. Callers were interested in seeing improvements to the residence halls and to the Umbeck Science-Mathematics Center, as well as investment in new, state-of-the-art equipment for campus science labs and performing arts spaces.

That takes money. That takes donors. That takes you.

President Amott has challenged us all to increase the number of Knox donors by 1,000 this fiscal year—that's 8,743 total donors by June 30. It seems like if we can get 2,000 folks on a phone call, it shouldn't be hard to find 1,000 more people to step up and make a gift to Knox this year.

For my part, I will dig deep to help make that happen. If we meet the President's challenge of 8,743 donors, I'll give an additional $100,000 to Knox over what I've already given.

If you haven't made a gift to Knox this year, even if you can only afford to give $20, I hope you'll  give now.

If you've already given, thank you—it counts. I hope you'll encourage your friends and classmates to get involved, too.

We need 1K #forKnox. Please join us at www.knox.edu/forknox.

P.S. If you prefer to make a gift through the Knox website, it will also count toward the 1K #forKnox Challenge! And, if you prefer not to share your payment information online, don't worry; any gifts that Knox receives in the mail or on the phone between now and June 30 will also count toward the challenge.
