Art History Position - Two Year Appointment - (CAA Job Description 2008-2009) Knox College is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor in Art History, two year fulltime appointment. We are searching for a pre-modern generalist with a specialty in any period from ancient art through Renaissance. Secondary areas in architecture and non-Western art a plus. Responsibilities include teaching Western art history survey courses, period courses in ancient, medieval and Renaissance art, as well as upper level courses in one's specialty. Periodic teaching in the college's first-year preceptorial program is also required. Additional duties include advising art history majors, participation in department service and directing senior art history theses.
Our small and dynamic department combines studio art and art history, and we are currently developing a museum studies concentration. A full teaching load is two courses per term for three ten-week terms. Course levels range from introductory 100-level offerings to upper level topical seminars.
Applicants should have the Ph.D. by August 2009 and college teaching experience is preferred. A strong commitment to a liberal arts education is also essential. Modern Languages The Modern Languages and Literatures Program at Knox College invites applications for a one-year visiting position(s) in Spanish language and area studies beginning September 2009. Qualifications: PhD/ABD preferred. Candidate(s) must have native/near-native fluency. Expertise preferred in Latin American literature and/or teaching Spanish as a second language with the proven ability and commitment to teaching language and literature at all undergraduate levels. Political Science and International Relations The Department of Political Science and International Relations invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Comparative Politics for the 2009-2010 academic year with a possibility of extension for an additional academic year. Ability to teach a research methods course or to contribute to our team taught American National Government course will be a plus. We are looking for someone with an interactive teaching style who will teach six courses over three ten-week terms.

Classics The Department of Classics at Knox College invites applications for an anticipated full-time visiting position at the level of Instructor or Assistant Professor, to begin September 2009. The position is for one year. The teaching load will be two courses per term (six courses over three 10-week terms). We seek candidates who are broadly trained and are prepared to teach Latin and Greek at all levels, as well as courses in translation on Greek and Roman culture.
