Ashley Konicki, a junior from Oak Lawn, Illinois (Mother McAuley High School), was named the Knox College Prairie Fire Performer of the Week on Monday, April 28. The second baseman hit .625 (15-of-24) and scored 10 runs over six games last week, and was a perfect 8-for-8 in a doubleheader against Illinois College on Saturday. Tuesday at Grinnell, Konicki was 3-for-4 with three runs scored in a 12-11 loss. She picked up two hits in five at bats and scored a run in a 12-7 loss in the second game. Konicki reached safely in all eight of her at bats against Illinois College on Saturday. She was 3-for-3 with two runs scored in the opener, a 7-3 Knox loss. She followed that by going 5-for-5 with a double, three runs scored, and one RBI in a 13-12 loss in the nightcap. Sunday, Konicki went 2-for-7 with a run scored as the Prairie Fire split a doubleheader at Blackburn College. Konicki finished second on the Prairie Fire softball team with a .373 batting average this season.
