Katie Schneider Named Midwest Conference Player of the Week
Senior goes 8-for-12 with two doubles and two home runs in four games last week

Katie Schneider, a senior from Evanston, Illinois (St. Scholastica Academy), was named the Midwest Conference Softball Player of the Week on Monday, April 14. The leftfielder was 8-for-12 with two doubles and two home runs in four games for the Knox softball team last week. She was named the Knox College Prairie Fire Performer of the Week on Monday.

The leadoff hitter had her best game of the season in the first game of a doubleheader against Monmouth College on Wednesday. She belted a pair of solo home runs, including a shot to left leading off the bottom of the seventh inning that tied the game at 3-3. Knox scored another run that inning for a 4-3 comeback victory. In the sixth inning, Schneider threw out a runner at the plate.

Schneider was 2-for-4 with a run scored in the second game as the Prairie Fire fell to the Fighting Scots 4-3.

Earlier in the week, Schneider picked up three hits, including a pair of doubles, in four at bats in a 4-2 loss in the first game of a doubleheader at Eureka College on Monday. She singled in her only plate appearance as a pinch hitter in the nightcap.

This season, Schneider is batting .333 with three doubles and three home runs. Knox visits Cornell College for a doubleheader on Thursday, April 17, beginning at 3 p.m.
