Jenna Finley, from Serena, Illinois (Serena High School), was named to the 2007-08 All-Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Second Team on Tuesday, March 4. The senior guard led Knox in assists and minutes played, and was among the Prairie Fire team leaders in scoring, rebounding, and steals. This season, the 5-8 guard averaged 9.4 points, 3.2 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals while starting all 23 games. She was second on the team in scoring, third in steals, and fourth in rebounding. Finley reached double figures in scoring 12 times, including scoring a season-high 18 points against Carroll College on January 26. Finley upped her play in Midwest Conference action. The Elementary Education major averaged a team-best 10.9 points per game, along with 3.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.5 steals, in league play. She scored 10 or more points in 10 of the 16 conference contests. In leauge play, she was second in free throw percentage, seventh in assists, ninth in assist-turnover ratio, and 14th in scoring. The Knox women's basketball team finished 3-20 overall and 1-15 in the MWC this year. The Prairie Fire snapped a 28-game conference losing streak by defeating Ripon College 61-48 on November 30, 2007. It was only Knox's third-ever win against Ripon in 21 tries. "Jenna really dedicated herself last summer to getting stronger and it showed this season. Her ability to penetrate and get to the basket was crucial for us," said Knox head coach Wendy Rogers. "Over her career, she helped change the expectations of Knox women's basketball and made us more competitive. She is a great leader who will be missed." Finley, one of only 53 players to earn four varsity women's basketball letters at Knox, appeared in 90 career games with the Prairie Fire. She finished her career 17th on the all-time Knox career scoring list with 653 points. She also had 234 rebounds and 189 assists with the Prairie Fire.
