Rairdon, Bell, and Sprint Medley Relay Team Earn Conference Honors
Knox men take eighth, women place ninth at MWC Championships

Knox had a strong showing at the 2008 Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday, February 29-March 1. Tim Rairdon and Pam Bell earned all-conference honors with third-place finishes, while the men's sprint medley relay team broke a Knox College school record with its third-place showing.

Tim RairdonRairdon, a senior from St. Charles, Illinois (St. Charles East High School), finished third at the conference meet in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.41, which was only .17 seconds behind the conference champion. Earlier this season, Rairdon set the Knox school record in the event with a time of 1:59.36.

Rairdon then anchored the sprint medley relay team, which set the school record with a time of 3:42.65. The 1600-meter sprint medley is composed of a pair of 200-meter legs, followed by a 400-meter leg, and an 800-meter leg. Mike Kizior, Dan Kizior, and Brett Daley ran the first three legs before Rairdon finished the event with the 800-meter run. The group beat the previous school record of 3:43.55 set in 2006.

The Knox men took eighth place as a team. Adam Kent scored in the weight throw with a toss of 42' 4", good for eighth place. The men's 4x200-meter relay team took eighth with a time of 1:37.71.

Pam BellBell, a senior from St. Louis, Missouri (Crossroads High School), led the Prairie Fire women by placing in the top-eight in three individual events. She received all-conference recognition with her third-place showing in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.90 seconds. Bell also took fourth in the high jump (5' 1.25") and seventh in the long jump (16' 2.25").

The Prairie Fire women finished ninth in the two-day conference championships. Four relay teams joined Bell in scoring points for the Knox women. The sprint medley team took sixth in a time of 4:32.57. The 4x200-meter relay team (1:55.63), distance medley relay team (14:22.68) and the 4x400-meter relay team (4:23.85) each took seventh place.
