Nine Earn All-Conference Football Recognition
Hill, Rutledge and Willits named to the second team

Nine Knox College football players were named to the All-Midwest Conference Team, including three second-team selections - senior linebacker Tyler Hill, senior defensive lineman Jaran Rutledge and senior running back Aaron Willits. Six others earned honorable mention. Hill and Rutledge were two of seven Prairie Fire defensive players recognized by the conference.

Hill, from Naperville, Illinois (Naperville North High School), is Knox College's all-time leading tackler with 345 career tackles. The 6-0, 220-pound linebacker led the Prairie Fire with 96 total tackles, including five tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks, this season. He also broke up four passes and forced one fumble. Hill was named the team's Most Valuable Senior and Most Valuable Defensive Player. Hill also earned second team all-conference honors as a junior after receiving all-conference honorable mention in 2005.

Rutledge, from Mundelein, Illinois (Carmel High School), finished with 31 total tackles, including 18 solo stops, in 2007. He was second on the team with five sacks among his 6.5 tackles-for-loss. The 6-3, 250-pound defensive lineman also recovered a fumble during the season.

Willits, from Aledo, Illinois (Aledo High School), led the Knox rushing attack with 648 yards and three touchdowns over just eight games. He also caught five passes for 45 yards and two scores. The team's Most Valuable Offensive Player is currently 96th in the NCAA Division III in rushing by averaging 81.0 yards per contest. The 5-10, 205-pound running back earned all-conference honorable mention last year.

Senior offensive lineman Will Becque, from Carbondale, Illinois (Carbondale Community High School); sophomore defensive lineman Tighe Burke, from Winnetka, Illinois (New Trier Township High School); senior defensive lineman Paul Bennett, from Edwards, Illinois (Brimfield High School); senior linebacker Kevin Corley, from Evergreen Park, Illinois (Evergreen Park High School); junior defensive back Sam Almohandis, from Tulsa, Oklahoma (Jenks High School); and senior defensive back and special teams standout Jarrett Corrow, from Carlyle, Illinois (Carlyle High School) received all-conference honorable mention.

Becque, a 5-11, 246-pound right tackle, anchored the offensive line which helped Knox average nearly 213 rushing yards per game in 2007. Becque also earned all-conference honorable mention last year.

Burke, a 6-3, 220-pound defensive end, led the Prairie Fire with seven sacks. Of his 52 total tackles, 11.5 came behind the line of scrimmage. He was among the nation's leaders with four forced fumbles, and added three pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. Burke received the Tom Dean Award as the team MVP of the game against rival Monmouth College and was elected a team captain for next season.

Bennett, a 6-1, 245-pound defensive end, added 38 total tackles, including 6.5 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks, this season. He also forced and recovered a fumble and broke up one pass.

Corley, a 6-0, 209-pound linebacker, was the team leader with 14.5 tackles-for-loss. He was second on the team with 86 total tackles. Corley, who earned all-conference honorable mention in 2006, also had a pair of interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble this year.

Almohandis, a 6-2, 190-pound defensive back, intercepted one pass and broke up four others this season. He finished with 19 total tackles.

Corrow, a 5-8, 160-pound defensive back, returned 19 kickoffs for 478 yards, including a 95-yard touchdown return against Carroll College. He also blocked a punt against Grinnell College. Defensively, Corrow finished with 19 tackles.
