Paul Bennett Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team
Junior outfielder earns second team all-district recognition

Paul Bennett was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Baseball Team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He received Second Team All-District V recognition in the College Division. Bennett is majoring in Biology and Psychology at Knox College.

The junior outfielder from Edwards, Illinois (Brimfield High School), appeared in all 32 games and made 31 starts for the Prairie Fire this season. He batted .376 with eight doubles, one triple and two home runs. Bennett was second on the team with 26 runs scored and 25 RBIs. He had a .523 slugging percentage and a .493 on-base percentage.

Bennett collected 13 multi-hit games and had at least one hit in 25 games this season. He reached base in 31 of the 32 games. Bennett was a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts and commited only one error in the outfield.

District V includes NCAA Division II, III or NAIA schools in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The be eligible for regional selection, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution.
