November 15 - Monmouth Invitational The Knox College women’s swim team finished fifth out of ten at the Monmouth Invitational. Junior Kaylin Maanum led the way for the Prairie Fire finishing in fourth place in the 200 yard freestyle (2:10.23) and sixth place in the 100 yard freestyle (1:00.31). Sophomore Kelley O’Connor contributed a fifth place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:51.34. Freshmen Tory Kassabaum and Bess Cooley, both scored significant points for the Prairie Fire in their second collegiate swim meet. Kassabaum had the highest finish on the day for the Prairie Fire coming in second place in the women’s 100 yard freestyle (59.69) and Cooley had a fourth place finish as well, in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:13.84) and a fifth place in the 500 yard freestyle (5:52.82). The Knox College men’s swim team finished in seventh place out of a possible eight at the invitational, as they were led by senior Tony Meyer, who placed sixth in the 200 yard freestyle (1:53.40) and freshman Alan Ning, who placed fifth in the 100 yard butterfly (59.27).
November 08 - Augustana, Iowa Central The Knox College Women's Swimming team beat Iowa Central Community College 122-16 while losing to Augustana 75-110. Freshmen Tory Kassabaum (Webster Grove HS, St Louis, MO) had 1st place finishes in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, 100 Fly and 100 Back. First Year Bess Cooley also had a great first meet for the Prairie fire with a 1st place finish in the 200 yard Medley Relay, and 100 breast stroke. She also earned points with a second place finish in the 200 IM. Junior Kaylin Maanum improved many of her times from last season and earned herself second place finishes in the 200 free, and 200 free Relay. Sophomore Kelley O'Conner improved on all of her times from last year as well and earned two 2nd place finishes in the 100 fly and 100 breast. The men's team was 3/3 teams and only lost to Augustana by one point. First year Tyler O'Neill (Perpich Center for Arts Education) led the Prairie fire with 1st place finishes in the 200 IM and 100 breast as well as earning 2nd place finishes in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Tony Meyer was able to capture one 1st place finish in the 100 free while adding two 2nd place finishes in the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relay.
