May 03 - MWC Championships
Knox won its 29th Midwest Conference Men's Golf Championship on Saturday with a three-round total of 970 at the Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Illinois. The Prairie Fire earned a 10-shot advantage heading into Saturday's round and held on to defeat defending champion Monmouth College by six strokes. Knox shot a 315 on Thursday, a 317 on Friday, and a 338 on Saturday to win its 20th men's golf team title since 1982. With the conference title, Knox earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Championships, held in Braselton, Georgia, from May 13-16. Knox senior David Marquardt was the individual medalist with a 224 total (72-74-78). The Prairie Fire have had the individual medalist 20 times at the conference tournament. Kevin Foerster also earned all-conference honors by tying for 10th place with a 247 (80-81-86). Taylor Mueller finished 22nd overall after shooting a 255 (80-89-95). Kevin Morris tied for 23rd, just a shot behind Mueller, with a 256 (85-82-89). Arjun Rao carded a 261 (83-89-89) while Bryce Goodman finished with a 264 (89-90-85).
April 26 - Scot-Fire Invitational
After the event was shortened to just one round due to rain, Knox placed sixth at the Scot-Fire Invitational with a 333 total. Play started Friday in Monmouth, but rain stopped play with only four holes remaining to wash away the entire opening round. The tournament was reduced to a single round at the Soangetaha Country Club in Galesburg on Saturday. David Marquardt led the Prairie Fire with an 81, good for 27th overall. Taylor Mueller was just a shot behind his teammate with an 82. Arjun Rao shot an 84, Kevein Foerster carded an 86 and Mark Janicik fired a 90. Playing as individuals, Bryce Goodman shot an 85, Kevin Morris shot an 86, A.J. Shule shot an 88, Solomon Williams shot a 98, and Brad Middleton shot a 101. Robert Morris College won the event with a 311. Wheaton (315) and Monmouth (316) rounded out the top three.
April 19 - Community 1st Credit Union Collegiate Golf Tournament
David Marquardt shot a one-under par 71 in the second round to place fifth at the Community 1st Credit Union Collegiate Golf Tournament. Marquardt fired a 76 in the first round to finish with a two-day total of 147. Kevin Foerster tied for 20th overall. He shot a 78 Friday and an 80 on Saturday to finish with a 158. Kevin Morris put together rounds of 86 and 87 to finish at 173. Taylor Mueller carded a 176 (96-80) and Arjun Rao finished a shot back with a 177 (88-89). Knox finished fifth as a team with a 646 total (328-318). Indian Hills Community College won the 11-team tournament with a 585 (297-288).
April 13 - Wartburg Invitational
David Marquardt finished with a two-round total of 156 to finish 14th at the Wartburg Invitational in Waverly, Iowa. The senior opened with a 76 and followed with a second-round 80 at the par-72 Centennial Oaks. Marquardt helped Knox finish 16th as a team in the 18-team tournament with a 674 (340-334). Gustavus Adolphus won the event with a 606 total (306-300). Kevin Morris carded an 85-83-168 and Taylor Mueller shot an 89-88-177. After an opening-round 94, Kevin Foerster rebounded with an 83 Sunday. Arjun Rao finished with a 90-88-178.
April 07 - Duhawk Spring Invitational
David Marquardt finished with a two-day total of 164 to lead the Knox men's golf team to a 20th-place finish at a cold and windy Loras College Duhawk Spring Invitational. Central College won the event at The Meadows with a 603 total. Marquardt opened with a 79 on Sunday before settling for an 85 on Monday. He finished in a tie for 48th overall. Bryce Goodman shot consecutive 84s to finish with a 168. Kevin Morris (85-91-176), Mark Janicik (87-92-179), and Kevin Foerster (87-94-181) also competed for the Prairie Fire. Knox finished with a 335-352-687 total.
March 29 - Prairie Fire Classic
David Marquardt finished second overall as Knox took ninth at the Prairie Fire Classic at Soangetaha Country Club to open the 2008 spring season. Marquardt opened with a one-under par 71 on Friday and followed with a 74 Saturday to finish with a 144, just one shot behind the individual medalist. Marquardt's round Friday was the lone round of the tournament under par. After an opening-round 84, Bryce Goodman carded a 79 to finish with a 163. Mark Janicik shot an 86-82-168, Arjun Rao carded an 83-86-169, and Kevin Foerster finished with an 86-91-177. Knox finished in a tie for ninth place with a 645 total (324-321). Carthage College won the 15-team tournament with a 595 total. Kevin Morris (83-84-167), Taylor Mueller (88-87-175), A.J. Shule (85-94-179), Solomon Williams (99-85-184), and Brad Middleton (95-100-195) also competed for Knox.
September 30 - Big Blue Classic
David Marquardt tied for sixth place individually as Knox took seventh as a team at the Millikin University Big Blue Classic. Marquardt opened with a 73 and followed with a 75 for a 148 total in the two-day tournament at Hickory Point Golf Course in Forsyth, Illinois. Bryce Goodman finished in the top 20 with a 154 total. He opened with a 72 the first day before shooting an 82 on the final day. Mark Janicik shot a 75-80-155, Taylor Mueller carded an 81-81-162 and Solomon Williams finished with an 87-87-174. Knox shot a 301-318-619 as a team.
September 25 - Vike-Fire Cup
The Vike-Fire Cup was canceled due to rain. It will not be rescheduled.
