Joey Graeff, a junior outfielder for the Knox Prairie Fire baseball team, has been named NCAA Division III statistical champion for Base on Balls (walks) per game for the 2008-2009 season. Graeff had 26 walks through 22 games as the leadoff hitter for the Prairie Fire, giving him a season average of 1.18 walks per game. Full Story |

Knox College head softball coach Patty Keenan will not be returning for next season with the Prairie Fire as she has decided to return to District 205 to teach. Assistant softball coach Ashley Sims will be the new head coach for the Prairie Fire softball team as well as the assistant coach for the volleyball team. Full Story |

Knox College collected several conference post-season awards as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, May 19. The Prairie Fire's Kevin Malone was named the Co- MWC South Division Player of the Year, sharing the award with Mike Nodzenski of Grinnell College. Full Story |

All year the Prairie Fire student-athletes, led by SAAC- Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, have been traveling to Hedding Grade School in Abingdon, Illinois to read to the children in school there. Two or three times a term 8-14 student-athletes put on their jersey or athletic shirt and go to spend an hour or so in the classroom reading to the kids and helping them with the activity of the day. Jonathan Powers has been named Head Coach of the Knox College Prairie Fire Swimming and Diving team. Powers is an assistant professor of economics at Knox who swam for four years at Amherst College, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1987. Full Story |

This Saturday, May 2, over 50 Knox student-athletes will travel to Monmouth to volunteer at a Special Olympics Track and Field event. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and the medal ceremony will conclude by 5 p.m. The meet is held in Monmouth, IL and student-athletes from Knox and Monmouth come together to help make the day a big success.
