
The Greek organizations at Knox offer opportunities for students to share talents and interests, to work with others on meaningful projects on campus and in the community, and to develop leadership skills. Individual chapters actively encourage and support excellence in both scholarship and leadership development.
Groups belonging to the sorority's Panhellenic Council (Delta Delta Delta,Pi Beta Phi and Kappa Kappa Gamma) conduct a formal recruitment process during the winter term. Groups belonging to the fraternity's Interfraternity Council (Beta Theta Pi, Phi Gamma Delta, Sigma Chi, Sigma Nu and Tau Kappa Epsilon) conduct a formal intake process during the winter term. Students on disciplinary probation cannot be rushed, pledged, or initiated. (See faculty regulations in the Faculty Handbook.)
There must not be any kind of initiation of the type known as "Hell Week." All forms of hazing are prohibited on the Knox College campus. All initiations must take place within the chapter houses or sorority bungalows, and must not cause any kind of public nuisance or disturbance. Nothing may be done that involves the possibility of physical injury. Students must not be asked to violate their personal or moral convictions as a condition of initiation. The initiation program must not in any way interfere with a student's academic work.
