Few experiences prepare you for life after college more than internships. Internships allow you to “test drive” different careers. They give you a competitive edge when you apply for jobs or graduate school.
At Knox, experiential learning is a part of our curriculum—because liberally educated people must be able to apply their skills and talents to real world situations. And we have an entire center—The Center for Career and Pre-Professional Development—dedicated to helping you find an internship and other preparatory experiences for life-after-Knox.
Our students have interned at the Illinois State’s Attorney’s Office, the United States Senate, International Red Cross, NATO in Brussels, AT&T, American Express, and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, to name just a few. Students preparing for medical school have interned at Galesburg Cottage Hospital as well as with private-practice physicians. Psychology students combine classroom work with intensive clinical internships at regional mental health care facilities as part of Clinical Term. And our journalism students get the feel of a real newsroom by working for The Register-Mail, Galesburg’s daily newspaper. |
