Knox College

Virtual Tour

Love of language. Deeper meanings and capital-T truths. Global concerns and cultural connections. Respect for the past. Reflection on the future. These are just a few of the academic passions of Knox students who pursue studies in the humanities.

Knox's offerings include language study from Greek and Latin to Spanish, French, and Japanese; in-depth study of literature; and thought-provoking courses in philosophy and classical studies that will resonate long after class has ended.

Students in the humanities often enhance their studies in English literature, Spanish, French, German, and many other majors by taking part in horizon-expanding study abroad. Newberry Library's seminar program is especially popular among humanities students, who can spend hours doing research in their humanities-focused collections. Those interested in learning languages can participate in a Quick Start program -- an innovative beginning language program that combines classroom study in grammar and culture with an intensive course abroad.
