Students who transfer to Knox after completing an A.A. or A.S. degree from an accredited community college may be eligible for renewable scholarships up to $10,000 per year. At least a B+ average (3.5 GPA on 4.0 scale) in a strong liberal arts curriculum is required.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships Members of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honorary society for community college students, are eligible for renewable scholarships up to $10,000 per year.
Carl Sandburg - Lombard Scholarships Students transferring to Knox after completing an A.A. or A.S. degree at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg may be eligible for renewable scholarships up to $10,000 per year. To apply, complete a Knox application for admission and a Carl Sandburg-Lombard Scholarship application by April 1. Applications are available at the Office of Student Services at Carl Sandburg College.
The Sandburg-Lombard Scholarship honors Galesburg native and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Carl Sandburg. He attended Lombard College, and his first published poems were printed in the school's literary magazine.
Transfer/Sandburg Scholarship Application Requirements:
- Apply for admission by April 1 for Fall entrance, November 1 for Winter entrance, or January 15 for Spring entrance.
- Candidates for the Sandburg Scholarship should complete a scholarship application, available in the Carl Sandburg College Office of Student Services, by April 1. A separate application is not required for the Transfer or Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships.
Notification Candidates are notified of their scholarship awards at the time of admission.
General Scholarship Guidelines Scholarship candidates must be admitted to Knox and be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Scholarship recipients often qualify for additional need-based financial assistance, including grants, work-study programs and loans. Scholarships are renewable annually as long as recipients remain in good academic standing.
