The Knox Women's Rugby Team was founded in the 2007-2008 school year by two first-years eager to bring rugby to campus. It has grown each year, with hopes of soon joining the official rugby unions. Until then, Knox Women's Rugby plays friendly scrimmages with other Midwestern teams and practices three times a week.
With both a fall and spring season, the Women's Rugby Team makes the most of the nice weather before pushed inside by the snow. Most new players join without any previous rugby experience and take to it quickly with enthusiasm. Knox Women's Rugby hopes to foster a community of positive sportsmanship and promote physical health while having a good deal of fun.
In the spring of 2009, the team adopted the mascot of the "Colbear," in honor of one of Knox's most beloved Commencement speakers from recent years (Stephen Colbert).
The team can be contacted regarding matches, purchasing shirts, joining the team, and with questions via the team's e-mail.
