Gaelic Fire

Irish Dance

Gaelic Fire Irish Dance Club is a dance group which welcomes all Knox students in hopes of spreading diversity through the joy of cultural dance. Practices are held weekly in the Auxiliary Gym (located between GDH and CFA) as well as a weekly advanced class featuring hard shoe dance.

Gaelic Fire Irish dancing groupClasses are taught, organized, and run by Knox students with experience in Irish Step Dance. No experience is necessary to join the club. Gaelic Fire is a fairly new club to Knox Campus, founded in 2009 by Katy Sutcliffe '12, but its youth does not mean that the club hasn't been active. Gaelic Fire was invited to be a guest performer in Terpsichore's 2009 winter term performance and also performed in Knox's annual International Fair last year.

This year the club will be bringing in professional dancers from Chicago to do a school-wide workshop as well as specific workshops with members of the club, watching a Feis (an Irish Step Dancing competition) in the Chicago area, and performances in Terp and on campus.
