The American Chemical Society

As a student affiliate of the American Chemical Society, the professional organization for chemists, the Chemistry Club brings opportunities to campus. As an affiliate, an important aspect of the club is that it is run by students. You'll have many opportunities as a member of the club, including:

• Preparing for successful careers in the field of chemistry
• Gaining recognition in the scientific community
• Networking with acclaimed chemists and other students in the field
• Gaining experience working in chemistry
• Beginning to decide which path to take after college

Past events

• Movie screenings
• Sponsoring recycled art competitions
• Field trips
• Community chemistry demonstrations to get elementary school children interested in chemistry early in their education
• Bringing speakers to campus in conjunction with other clubs. Past speakers include Wally Funk, one of the first American women to undergo astronaut testing, and Martha Ackmann, the author of a book about the Mercury 13 program
