Hamblin Hall

Knox College undertook an extensive renovation and expansion of Hamblin Hall in the summer of 2007. The new two-person and four-person apartments, which house upperclass students, were built on the ground level, along with a new lounge area. The College also replaced all kitchens, bathrooms, and doors in the existing apartments. The outside entrance and all lounges and common living areas were renovated, creating an inviting space for all students. A sprinkler system, new fire alarm system, and an elevator were also installed.

The building was named after Adolph "Ziggy" Hamblin, one of Knox's best all-around athletes and the only Knox student to win 16 varsity letters. After graduating from Knox in 1920, Hamblin became the head football coach at West Virginia State University, where he also had a distinguished career as director and professor in the department of biological science, botany, and zoology.
