The Knox 2018 strategic planning exercise will be built around six questions, each of which will frame the work of a task force over a nine-month period:
Who and where are the students of the future? How do we recruit and enroll them? How do we retain and graduate them? What will attract students to Knox? Potential topics might include demographics, admission and marketing strategies, financial aid modeling, retention and enrollment planning.
How do we deliver a distinctive 21st-century liberal arts education to these students of the future? What experiences will Knox make available to 21st-century students that will challenge them to put content knowledge and skills into practice, further enlarge their worldview, and allow them to master skills needed to navigate life in the 21st century? Potential topics might include curriculum, pedagogy, role of technology in delivering academic programs, offering a BS degree and/or any post-baccalaureate degrees, certificate programs, a three-year degree, low-residency options, and summer programs.
How do we engage students, alumni, parents, families, and friends of the College as lifelong learners and supporters? Potential topics might include educational offerings for alumni, helping students understand their responsibilities to the College, building a robust volunteer structure.
How do we recruit, retain, support and develop the best and brightest faculty and staff for Knox? Potential topics might include compensation, benefits, and faculty and staff development.
What business model and innovative practices will provide long-term financial sustainability to the College and support our mission of student success while ensuring affordability for families? Potential topics might include collaborations with other entities, use of technology, and additional revenue streams.
How do we imagine and build a 21st-century campus, with accessible and sustainable facilities, state-of-the-art technology, residential facilities that promote learning?
