Memorial Gymnasium Renovation Update
New bleachers are in place in Memorial Gymnasium. The enhancements that began in March retain the gym's historic ambiance while improving facilities for teams and spectators.

Emily Cline Named Head Women's Basketball and Head Women's Golf Coach
Emily Cline was named the head women's basketball coach at Knox College on Monday, May 26. Cline, who will also serve as the head women's golf coach, will begin her duties on July 1. Cline spent the 2007-08 season as an assistant women's basketball coach at Buena Vista University. She spent the previous four seasons as the assistant coach at Sewanee: The University of the South in Tennessee.

Amanda Barkema Named Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach
Amanda Barkema was named the head men's and women's tennis coach at Knox College on Tuesday, May 27. She will also serve as the Head Pro at Soangetaha Country Club. Barkema, who will begin her duties on August 1, is currently working at the Wakonda Country Club in Des Moines, Iowa, where she teaches clinics and organizes the tennis pro shop.

C.J. Rugh to Take Internship with Minnesota Vikings
After seven years, four as a student and three as a coach, C.J. Rugh is leaving Knox and is taking an internship with the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. He will begin his duties on Tuesday, May 27. The timing couldn't have been better for Rugh, who led the Prairie Fire men's golf team to a Midwest Conference championship and an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Championships earlier this month.

MWC Academic All-Conference Spring Sports Team Announced
The Midwest Conference recognized 21 Knox College student-athletes from six league sports on the 2008 MWC Academic All-Conference Spring Sports Team announced on Thursday, May 22. To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student athletes must hold a cumulative 3.2 grade point average and letter in any of the MWC's spring sports.

Spring Sports Banquet
Knox College closed its memorable 2008 spring athletics season with its annual Spring Sports Banquet Monday night, May 19, in the Lincoln Room in Seymour Union. Awards were presented by Knox College President Roger Taylor, Anne Taylor, Knox Director of Athletics Chad Eisele and Faculty Representative Larry Welch. Head coaches also announced their 2008 team award winners and their 2008-09 team captains.

David Marquardt Named Second Team All-American
David Marquardt, a senior from Bloomington, Illinois (Bloomington High School), was named a PING Division III Second Team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) following the NCAA Championships on Friday, May 16. He finished 14th overall at the four-round tournament at the Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Georgia. He is just the fifth Knox men's golfer to earn All-American honors.

Knox's Historic Baseball Season Comes to a Close
Knox's historic season came to an end after a 15-7 loss to the College of St. Scholastica at the 2008 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Oshkosh Regional. The Prairie Fire end the season 15-25 overall after reaching the National Tournament for the first time in school history.

Paul Bennett Named MWC South Division Player of the Year
After winning the 2008 Midwest Conference Baseball Championship, Knox College collected several conference post-season awards as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, May 13. The Prairie Fire's Paul Bennett was named the MWC South Division Player of the Year while Jami Isaacson was tabbed as the South Division's Coach of the Year. The Prairie Fire had six players named to the all-conference team.

Jami Isaacson Named MWC South Division Coach of the Year
After guiding his team to the 2008 Midwest Conference Baseball Championship, Knox College head coach Jami Isaacson was named the MWC South Division Coach of the Year on Tuesday, May 13. This marks the third time Isaacson has earned coach of the year honors in the conference after winning the award at Illinois College in 1995 and at Knox in 1997.

Katie Dura Named MWC South Division Player of the Year
For the first time in school history, a Knox softball player was named the Midwest Conference South Division Player of the Year. Katie Dura earned the honor after her outstanding senior season in which she led the Prairie Fire in most offensive categories, it was announced by the conference on Tuesday, May 6. Senior Katie Schneider and junior Ashley Konicki were named to the All-Midwest Conference Second Team.
