Social Concerns Scholarships of up to $4,000 per year are awarded to incoming students who've engaged in extensive, sustained participation and leadership in social action. Social Concerns Scholarships are part of our long-standing commitment to social justice and equality. Knox's founders were leaders in the worldwide anti-slavery movement. In the early 20th century, Knox graduates were prominent among the "muckrakers" who pioneered the field of investigative journalism. During the 1960s, Knox was a leader in sending graduates to the Peace Corps, and Washington Monthly magazine ranked Knox #53 in the nation for the percentage of Knox alumni in the Peace Corps. To apply for a Social Concerns Scholarship, submit an application for admission to Knox, along with a separate written statement describing your involvements and a letter of recommendation from an adviser or school official with direct knowledge of your efforts.
