Prospective Students

Serving Others

Part of Knox College's mission is to challenge students and all members of the Knox community to explore, understand, and improve ourselves, our society, and our world; that is, to live with purpose and to contribute to the well-being of others.Peace Corps volunteer information session

And indeed, our students, faculty, staff, and alumni make us proud with their civic engagement, taking actions like volunteering for community service, serving as elected officials and church leaders and soccer coaches and board members for non-profit organizations and more, and living socially and environmentally responsible lives. And Knox alumni clubs throughout the country take part in Make a Difference Days by volunteering in their local communities.

Knox alumni are also well represented in public service organizations like AmeriCorps, VISTA, Teach For America, and the Peace Corps. In fact, Knox has such a strong tradition of sending graduates into the Peace Corps that our campus was made the site of the first official Peace Corps Preparatory Program at a college or university. The program offers coursework in international studies, education, and foreign language study to train students for the Peace Corps or international service careers.
