
Knox and Galesburg were founded together in 1837, and the city and college remain close.
Knox students are deeply involved in internships and volunteer activities with local groups and agencies such as Safe Harbor Family Crisis Center, The Register-Mail newspaper and FISH Food Pantry.
Knox students are often found at the mall, in downtown shops, at the city's many restaurants and coffee shops, or at the movies, the symphony, the civic theatre, or nearby Lake Storey recreational area.
Galesburg is also home to churches of most Christian denominations and a Reform Jewish temple, all of which welcome Knox students to their services.
