Knox College expects its students to be responsible citizens and to cooperate in creating a campus community. Common courtesies and respect for the dignity of others go a long way toward making community life what it ought to be.
Knox College provides its students with a complete guide to the rules and regulations of the College. The primary purpose of those regulations, and for discipline at the College, is to protect the well-being of the community and to advance its educational mission by defining and establishing certain norms of behavior. At Knox, disciplinary proceedings are subordinate to positive guidance, rational admonition and reasonable appeal to members of its community to observe its stated norms.
There are specific policies regarding discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and student-sponsored social events and alcohol use. In addition, the drug and alcohol policies are compliant with federal legislation. Infractions of the regulations are handled by the appropriate College staff and governing bodies, including the Conduct Board and Dean of Students Office, using the procedures outlined in the Student Handbook.
