Thanks to all who attended Family and Friends Weekend, October 21-23, 2011! About 400 participants, or 150 families, took part in events during Family and Friends Weekend. We hope you had a wonderful time visiting your son or daughter, sibling, grandchild, or friend.
Next year's Family and Friends Weekend is scheduled for October 12-14, 2012. We will post updated information in Summer 2012, but feel free to look at the schedule for Family and Friends Weekend 2011 to see what events typically take place during the weekend.

8:00 am - 3:50 p.m. Attend Knox classes.
Attend Knox classes. Some classes may fill up quickly, so arrive early. We ask your cooperation in moving on to another class in the period if the class becomes full.
4:00-6:00 p.m. Welcome Center Check-in.
Pick up your final schedule and packet and visit with other families and friends in the Lincoln Room, Seymour Union.
5:00-7:00 p.m. Pi Beta Phi Speed Read event, Oak Room, Seymour Union. The Speed Read is a tournament style event where, in teams of four, participants read as many words from a Dr. Seuss book as fast as they can in 60 seconds.
7:00-9:00 p.m. Off Knox, a student-sponsored open mic session with readings, song, and stories. The BOX Gallery, 306 E. Simmons St.
7:00 p.m. InterVarsity Christian Fellowship Meeting. Room E117, Science and Mathematics Center.

2:00 - 4:00 p.m. An Afternoon at Green Oaks. Join Professors Jon Wagner and Jim Mountjoy for a historical overview and tour of Knox's Biological Field Station, Green Oaks. Located near the Spoon River in eastern Knox County, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of the Knox campus, Green Oaks is both a research and recreation area. Knox gained Green Oaks in 1958 through the estate of Alvah Green, an 1890 Knox graduate and a College trustee who had sympathies toward ecology. More about the history of Green Oaks here.
This is a special event for Family Weekend and celebrates the 175th anniversary of Knox College.
