Interested in the Sciences? New Program Offers Scholarships, Support

Environmental management and conservation. Food Science. Forensic chemistry. Genetics. Toxicology. If you’re interested in pursuing a career in any one of these fields -- or others like them -- Knox offers an innovative, new program that provides scholarships, tutoring, seminars with visiting scientists, and other opportunities to help you prepare for careers or graduate programs in the sciences.

Knox College's new COAST Program, funded by grant from the National Science Foundation, targets students who plan to major in biology, biochemistry, or chemistry. COAST also prioritizes students who are the first in their family to attend college and who are from groups underrepresented in science-related fields. Find out if you're eligible for COAST.

Attend a Fall Open House
The best way to get to know Knox is to visit, and the best time to visit is during one of our fall open houses. These events typically last from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are full of tours, workshops, and meetings. You'll get a chance to meet faculty and students; explore labs and residence halls; and ask questions about scholarships, financial aid, opportunities for off-campus study, and independent research. Register for an open house on October 14 or November 11 at www.knox.edu/openhouse.

Schedule a Personal Visit
If you can't attend an open house program, you can schedule a personal visit to Knox. Visits will include a student-guided tour of campus and an opportunity to meet with your admission counselor. You can also meet with professors and coaches, and eat lunch in the Hard Knox Cafe. High school seniors can also observe classes. Register at www.knox.edu/visit.

Apply Early for Admission
Are you a high school senior? Apply for admission by the November 1 Early Action deadline, and we will make you priority as we read applications, providing an admission and scholarship decision by the end of November. The Early Action option is non-binding, meaning you may apply to other colleges and still have until May 1 to make your final college selection.
