Student Interns at Council on Foreign Relations
When author and columnist Amity Shlaes visited Knox College last fall to deliver a lecture on the U.S. economy, she also took time to meet informally with students. One of those students, junior Maksymilian Czuperski, ended up working as Shlaes' summer intern at the Council on Foreign Relations, a nonpartisan membership organization, think tank, and publisher, where Shlaes is a senior fellow. Maksymilian spent most of his time conducting economic research. He also attended meetings and roundtable discussions. "It was a pleasure to work with really talented and smart people, and I learned a lot from them," he said. DAH Teatar Workshops at Knox
The internationally acclaimed theatre company, DAH Teatar of Serbia, is completing a four-day residency at Knox, including two performances of “Crossing the Line.” The performance is based on women’s stories of violence and loss, courage and endurance during the civil war in former Yoguslavia. While at Knox, members of DAH Teatar also will conduct workshops, meet with students, and participate in several classes. "The work of DAH Teatar ties into the conversations that we have been having at Knox — that if you're personally insensitive toward violence and violence against women, you leave yourself vulnerable at the global level,” said theatre professor Elizabeth Carlin-Metz.
