Knox Among Top 10 Colleges Producing Peace Corps Volunteers

Knox College has earned a spot on Peace Corps' annual list of the top volunteer-producing colleges in the United States, ranking No. 10 among small colleges and universities with 13 alumni currently serving all over the world as Peace Corps volunteers.

Since the Peace Corps was created in 1961, 192 Knox graduates have made a difference in the Peace Corps. Acting Director of the Peace Corps, Carrie Hessler-Radelet, said Knox's "fine liberal arts education really helps prepare applicants for their Peace Corps service. Knox is a school that has a global orientation and is committed to creating global leaders and a rich history of inquiry and curiosity about the world." Exploring Cultural Diversity in Berlin and Istanbul

Students in a team-taught European identities course combined their classroom studies with a 17-day trip to Germany and Turkey led by faculty in political science, German, and history. "A liberal arts education is about trying to make sense of the world around you through a prism of different fields. Soccer Team Wins Academic Award

Following a record-breaking season that included an appearance in the semifinals of the Midwest Conference Tournament, the Prairie Fire men's soccer team gained a top academic honor. Based on the team's grade point average, Knox was selected as one of the 2012-13 College Team Academic Award Winners by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Read more about the team and award. Men’s soccer isn’t the only team to excel academically. Last year, 94 Knox athletes were named to the Academic All-Midwest Conference.
