Knox Looks to Boost Study Abroad Rates

Knox is joining Cornell University, Ohio State University, Purdue University, Rutgers University, University of Notre Dame and others in a pledge to increase the number of students studying abroad. Initiatives Knox plans to undertake to raise the study abroad rate to 60% include identifying more affordable study abroad programs; creating a peer advisory system; and creating a digital storytelling class for returning study abroad students. Writing Matters at Knox

Knox writers are having their work recognized and published. The Knox Student, Knox’s student newspaper, received 18 awards during the Illinois College Press Association's most recent annual conference, with judges calling TKS "one of the state's best student newspapers." And creative writing major Colleen Boyd saw her first young adult novel, Swamp Angel, recently published. She found help navigating the publishing process through an independent study course at Knox. Meet Your Class: Attend Admitted Student Days
All admitted students are invited to experience life as a Knox student. Attend classes, meet with professors and coaches, eat with students in the cafeteria, and meet your future classmates. Enjoy a music, theatre, or dance performance, or cheer on the Prairie Fire at an athletic event. This is your opportunity to experience Knox! Register for Admitted Student Days on April 4 or 18 at www.knox.edu/admittedstudentdays.

Schedule a Personal Visit
If you can’t attend Admitted Student Days, you can schedule a personal visit to Knox. Visits will include a student-guided tour of campus and an opportunity to meet with your admission counselor. You can also talk with professors and coaches, observe a class, and eat lunch with students in the Hard Knox Cafe. Register at www.knox.edu/visit.
