Knox College

Welcome to Knox!

We can't wait to welcome you to the Knox community this September! Your time at Knox will have a profound impact on your future, and we are sure that you're excited to begin this new stage in your life.

To make your journey from home to campus life a smooth one, you will receive an e-mail each month throughout the summer. These e-mails will include a quick list of items to complete during the month as you get ready for your arrival on campus for new student orientation, called One Community.

That said, let’s get started! Here are eight things to do in May:

1

Get acquainted with the new student website.
This is where you’ll find the information you need as you prepare for your journey to Knox. Visit www.knox.edu/newstudent often, as the site will be updated throughout the summer.

2

Check items off your to-do list.
Visit your personalized student portal to see what items you’ve completed and what tasks still need to be done.At the top of the list this month is completing your scholarship questionnaire.

3

Join the Class of 2018 Facebook group.
Introduce yourself on the Knox Class of 2018 Facebook page. This is a great place to meet your classmates, ask questions, and learn more about the Knox experience. Also be sure to check out our main Facebook page, Twitter account, Flickr photostream, and YouTube channel.

4

Make plans now to attend Orientation.
Knowing the dates of Orientation will give you an idea of when to arrive on campus. And speaking of arriving on campus, it’s never too early to make arrangements for travel and accommodations if your family will be staying for a day or two.

5

Explore payment options.
Now is also the time to make arrangements if you plan to make monthly payments to manage college costs. Learn more about the variety of payment options available to help you cover your college tuition and expenses.

6

Build your graduation wish list.
Take a look at our recommended packing list to see what you need to live at Knox. And if you're thinking about adding a new laptop to your graduation wish list, make sure it meets all the hardware and wireless requirements to connect to the Knox Network.

7

Send us your parents' e-mail address.
Already tired of your parents looking over your shoulder every time you open and e-mail from Knox? Send us their e-mail address so they can receive their own monthly updates.

8

Request your transcripts.
Be sure to request that a final transcript of your high school and any college records be sent to Knox. We need this information not only to maintain your eligibility for financial aid and scholarships, but to assist your faculty advisor as you register for classes.

Complete these eight items this month and you’ll be well on your way to preparing for a great Knox experience. In the coming months, the list will include items on preparing for your academic experience, healthcare, housing, and much more. Be sure to check back on www.knox.edu/newstudent often, and if you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact the Office of Student Development any time at 309-341-7222 or newstudent@knox.edu.

Again, welcome to Knox!
