Knox College offers a limited number of spaces for summer housing to you if:
- You are engaged in Knox College sponsored research or other academic activity.
- You are working on campus for a College office.
- You are an International Student (whose permanent address is outside the continental U.S.).
If you wish to live in college residence halls, you must complete a Summer Housing Application and Contract (available in the Campus Life Office). Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on May 29, 2013 to the Campus Life Office.
When Can I Move In?
Move-in for summer housing begins Friday, June 14 after 1:30 p.m. and ends Monday, June 17 before 7:00 a.m. Students should remain in academic year residences until this time. Summer housing keys may be picked up at the Campus Safety Office during the move-in time. Note: Students must move-in during this time and should plan accordingly.
Where Is Summer Housing? Who will I live with?
For summer 2013, housing is in Hamblin Hall. It is comprised of 1-bedroom (2 people) and 2-bedroom (4 people) apartments. Each Hamblin apartment is air conditioned and has a full kitchen. The number of students housed in each apartment depends upon the numbers that apply for summer housing (i.e. the more people who apply the more people in each apartment). Singles may be available, also depending on how many students will be staying here this summer. We cannot guarantee the availability of this, so you should plan to live with someone. If singles are available, the charge will be more per month than the cost of a double. If you have a roommate in mind, please request one another on your application forms. Requested roommates will not necessarily be placed with one another unless both students explicitly indicate on their housing application that they wish to live with one another.
Summer Housing Charges These fees apply per month, and per student.
- Double Room Fee - $265
- Single Room Fee - $285
Early departures or late arrivals will be pro-rated by the week of the arrival/departure. Meal plans are not available for the summer, so students are responsible for their own food.
Making Moving Easier
Campus Life Staff will be available to assist you in transporting your things to your summer residence, but you are responsible for all lifting, moving, and loading of items. This service will only be available from 1:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14. Please note that you are only allowed to move into your summer residence over the weekend of June 14 - 16, and you are only allowed to move into your Fall Term housing the weekend of August 9-11. This means that you MUST be on campus during those weekends. There are no exceptions to this policy. Please make your travel plans accordingly.
