Knox College offers numerous classroom and laboratory venues for projecting presentations from a personal computer. There are 41 classrooms and three computer labs on campus equipped with projection equipment that is ready for use. Whenever possible, presentations should be scheduled in one of these classrooms and presenters should use the computers already installed. By doing so there is a much narrower margin for problems.
Using Knox Computers
Presentations, images, video, etc. can be transferred to a classroom computer using USB, a Knox network account, or via CD or DVD. A Knox user will need to log in to the computer for the presenter.
One of our user services' staff will be happy to meet with you and/or the visitor in the classroom prior to the presentation (between the hours of 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday) to do a test run and answer any questions you may have. Contact Nancy Hall at x7814 or Ross Davis at x7353 to set up an appointment.
Using Guest Computers
If there is a special need for the presenter to bring his/her own equipment, please be aware of the following:
- A guest wireless account is required for any guest computer to access the network and the Internet. Please make reservations at least 24 hours in advance.
- A special video adapter is required for Macintosh computers. The guest will need to provide this adapter. We do have a limited number of adapters and if we have the appropriate type you are welcome to borrow it. Please check in advance.
- The Audio/Visual Department will need to be notified at least 24 hours in advance to connect the computer to the projection equipment. If you will also need an audio connection, please notify them of this need. Contact Todd Smith at x7541, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
