Officer Glass, who was appointed as deputy director of the Department of Campus Safety in 2006, has been employed at Knox College since March 1999. He was a member of the Knox County Sheriff's Department for more than 20 years and retired as a sergeant. Deputy Director Glass graduated from Western Illinois University with a B.S. in law enforcement administration.
Officer Hull has been employed as a campus safety officer since August 1995. He was previously employed by Ray-Co Security Company before his appointment to the Department of Campus Safety. Officer Hull is a graduate of the INCLEA Campus Protection Course and is a certified Campus Protection Officer Specialist.
Officer Ingles was appointed as a part-time campus safety officer in October 2005. He is employed full-time as a craftsman in the maintenance department of Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg. Prior to that, he was a correctional officer sergeant. He majored in criminal justice at Carl Sandburg College.
Officer Kemp has been employed as a campus safety officer since September 2004. He was a correctional officer for the Tennessee Department of Corrections for more than four years before returning to Galesburg. Officer Kemp has received training as an Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) and is a graduate of the 40-hour WIRC-CAA Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention course.
Officer Martinez was appointed as a part-time campus safety officer in March 2005. He is employed full-time as a correctional officer at the Henry Hill Correctional Center where he also serves as a member of the tactical team. He was named TACT Member of the Year in 2003 and Correctional Officer of the Year in 2004.
Officer McCoy has been employed as a campus safety officer since 1995. He has an A.A.S. in electrical technology from Carl Sandburg College and graduated from the 40-hour WIRC-CAA Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention course. Officer McCoy oversees the manufacture and distribution of campus keys for all campus buildings.
Officer Ordaz was appointed as a part-time campus safety officer in February 1999. He is employed full-time by the Illinois Department of Corrections at the Adult Transition Center in Peoria, Illinois. Prior to that position he had been employed as a correctional officer at the Henry Hill Correctional Center.
Officer Rayborn was appointed as a part-time campus safety officer in December 1996. He has been employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections as a counselor and records supervisor. Officer Rayborn has also been employed as a Knox County deputy sheriff and served as the chief of police for Yates City, Illinois. Officer Rayborn has an A.A.S. in law enforcement from Carl Sandburg College.
Officer Sandrock was appointed as a part-time campus safety officer in January 2002. He currently serves full-time as a member of the Knox County Sheriff's Department. He has been assigned as a road deputy, patrol sergeant, and detective. Officer Sandrock is a Red Cross certified CPR, First Aid, and AED instructor. Officer Sandrock graduated from Sauk Valley College with an A.A.S. in criminal justice.
Officer Simonson was appointed as a part-time campus safety officer in February 2000. He has been employed full-time at the State of Illinois Henry Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg since 1987. Officer Simonson was initially appointed as a correctional officer and was then assigned as a clinical services correctional counselor where he served for 15 years. He currently serves as a clinical services casework supervisor.
Officer Struck has been employed as a campus safety officer since December 2005. Officer Struck served for more than 20 years in the United States Army as a military police officer with duties as a security advisor to a medical command center, physical security inspector, and security specialist. Officer Struck graduated from Central Texas College with an A.G.S. in 1997. He retired from the Army in 2004.
Officer Buccalo was appointed as a part-time campus safety officer in December 2009. She currently serves as a telecommunication operator in the Galesburg/Knox Public Safety 911 Communication Center. Officer Buccalo has received training as an Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) and graduated from the WIRC-CAA Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention course. She also worked as a student safety worker for Campus Safety while attending Knox College.
Officer Chernin was originally appointed as a part-time campus safety officer in November 2003 and continued to serve until August 2007 when scheduling conflicts restricted his employment. He was re-appointed in March 2011. He has a B.A. from Knox and a M.A. from Western Illinois University. Officer Chernin works full-time as an English teacher in the Galesburg District #205, Illinois, school system.
Officer Mike Ingles has been employed as a part-time campus safety officer since May 2010. Officer Ingles has served with the Knox County Sheriff's Office as a correctional officer until September 2003 when he was appointed to the Galesburg Police Department as a patrol officer. He is employed full-time as a Galesburg police officer. He has attended Carl Sandburg College's criminal justice program.
John H. Schlaf
Officer Schlaf was appointed as director of the Department of Campus Safety in July 2006. He served as a police officer on the Galesburg Police Department since September 1967 and retired while serving as chief of police. Director Schlaf is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy and Western Illinois University where he obtained a B.S. in law enforcement administration. He has served as a governor's appointee on the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board since 1996 and retains his certification as an Illinois police officer.
