There are four basic options:
Yes. Students can access care at OSF Galesburg Clinic or at OSF Prompt Care. This visit is treated the same as if the visit was on-campus (i.e. no charge for office visit. Lab fees, x-rays, prescriptions are an additional charge).
The medical staff will provide medical documentation, upon request, for students they feel have legitimate health problems that require class absences. If there is any question as to whether an excuse is necessary, a student should initiate such a request. Class absences or missed examinations should be reported by the student to Lori Haslem, associate dean of the College, as soon as possible.
Contact the student health service coordinator in the Office of Student Development, 103 Old Main, ext. 7863, for questions concerning services covered by Health Services.
Health Services has the ability to conduct several lab procedures on-site. Lab fees are not included in the free office visit; those additional costs are the responsibility of the student.
The on-campus medical practitioner will be able to refer you to the appropriate specialist if further treatment is recommended.
There is no cost per visit to the student unless lab fees, x-rays, and prescriptions are required. Any additional costs are at the expense of the student, and the student's insurance will be billed.
Yes. Knox College and Family Planning of Western Illinois have an agreement in which Knox will pay for one visit per academic year for all enrolled Knox students, including a doctor's full exam and a sexually transmitted infection (STI/STD) test. Students not requiring a full exam on their subsequent visits will be charged Family Planning's going rate for each procedure up to but not exceeding $60.
