College Registrar

Knox College invites applications for the position of College Registrar. Knox College is a vibrant community of scholar teachers and students with a tradition of free inquiry, independent thought, and diverse perspectives. Knox is a college that changes lives.

Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Registrar is responsible for interpreting and implementing academic policies; managing student academic records, class scheduling, course registration procedures, grade records and transcripts; and ensuring compliance with FERPA. The Registrar certifies graduation and other requirements and works collaboratively with the Associate Dean of the College to monitor student progress, and with Office of Institutional Research to issue regular reports on enrollment, the distribution of course loads, numbers of majors, etc. The College Registrar also participates in the College's enrollment management planning.

Candidates should have experience with the educational mission of a residential liberal arts College. An advanced degree and/or substantial experience as a college registrar is required. The successful candidate must have vision and skills requisite to leadership in the use of technology for enrollment and course management while providing responsive and personalized service to students, faculty and staff. Excellent speaking, written and interpersonal communication skills must be combined with attentiveness to detail and accuracy and a collaborative work style. The salary level is competitive, depending on experience and education.

Sustainability Coordinator

Knox College invites applications for a newly created position as Sustainability Coordinator to provide broad institutional leadership and support for the College's efforts to create a culture of sustainability on campus. The position is full-time, 12 months, and begins July 1, 2012. Salary and benefits for the position are competitive. The coordinator will report to the Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services and will serve as convener for the President's Sustainability Task Force.

We seek an individual with excellent interpersonal and communications skills, the ability to integrate qualitative and quantitative data, an interest in working with non-campus constituents, a well-rounded conception of sustainability that is continually updated with professional development, and a contagious energy and enthusiasm for improving sustainability on campus through innovation and creative practices.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and integrate information to monitor progress on meeting college sustainability goals and share this information in multiple formats with campus constituencies.
  • Work with the College' Sustainability Task Force and with students, faculty, and staff across campus to educate and increase collaboration among campus constituencies.
  • Work with students and relevant campus units to develop, assess and implement campus programs that will motivate and engage individuals and offices to act more sustainably.
  • In collaboration with the campus Advancement office, identify and pursue external funding opportunities in the area of sustainability.

Qualifications
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, with at least two years of relevant experience. Experience in campus sustainability practices is preferred. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills, the ability to integrate qualitative and quantitative data, an interest in working with non-campus constituents, a well-rounded conception of sustainability that is continually updated with professional development, and a contagious energy and enthusiasm for improving sustainability on campus through innovation and creative practices.

Director of Admission

Knox College seeks an enthusiastic, goal-oriented team leader for the position of Director of Admission. Working closely with the Dean of Admission and the Directors of Financial Aid and Admission Services, the Director will be a key member of the leadership team in developing and implementing recruitment strategies to achieve enrollment and revenue objectives. We seek a Director abreast of emerging best practices in college admission and committed to developing the innovative techniques that will become tomorrow's best practices.

Admission Counselor/Assistant Director of Admission

Knox College seeks an outgoing, goal-oriented individual to join the admission team as an Admission Counselor or Assistant Director of Admission. You'll work within an assigned recruitment territory to achieve a high level of visibility for the College; identify well-matched candidates for admission; build relationships with high school counselors, alumni, prospective students, and parents; and guide students and their parents through the process of applying for admission and financial aid. You'll collaborate with other members of the staff to implement on and off-campus recruitment activities; conduct interviews; evaluate applications for admission; and actively engage interested students via phone, email, social media, and face-to-face contact to achieve enrollment goals.

Program Assistant

Knox College seeks a Program Assistant for the TRIO Achievement Program, a TRIO Student Support Services project. The position is a 12-month, full-time, hourly appointment to begin June 11, 2012, which is funded 100% by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The TRIO Achievement Program is part of the Office of Student Development at Knox. The TRIO Achievement Program is a TRIO Student Support Services project funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education in the amount of $302,731 for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Responsibilities: Manage student participation, enrollment, and performance data in the project's electronic database and hardcopy student files; assist in the compilation of federal, institutional, and internal reports; assist with event/workshop/travel arrangements; manage paperwork required for expenditures and office maintenance.

Qualifications
The Program Assistant must have 2 or more years experience and knowledge of data management systems and general office management, preferably within a higher education setting. Must be competent in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and FileMaker Pro. Must understand FERPA legislation as it pertains to the management of confidential files and data.

Professional Painter

The Knox College maintenance department has an immediate opening for a Professional Painter. The work involves painting maintenance of campus buildings, furniture, and fixtures. The painter must be experienced with mixing paint, drywall taping and repair, window reglazing, paper hanging, refinishing furniture, and the other duties associated with, but not limited to, the painting trade. Work will involve new construction as well as remodeling and renovation, both indoors and outside. Responsible for assigning and supervising other painters.

Five years professional painting experience required, with evidence of successful supervisory responsibility. Must have a valid Illinois driver's license.
