Cultural Impact

• Knox College is a rich source of intellectual, cultural and athletic activities. Knox hosts more than 400 lectures, performances, sporting, and cultural events each year. Among its guests are distinguished and nationally known speakers, artists, and performers. The public is welcome to attend, and most events are free of charge.
  
  
• Knox's student body consists of 1,420 students from 48 states and 51 countries. Of the fall 2012 incoming class, 13% are from overseas and 31% are students of color. This diverse student body contributes to the social, cultural, and economic
  vitality of the Galesburg community.

Visibility Impact

• Knox's president and other Knox staff travel around the country promoting Galesburg to alumni and friends -- including the benefits of living in Galesburg.
  
  
• Knox faculty are true scholar-teachers; in addition to making the classroom a forum for a shared pursuit of knowledge, they actively contribute scholarly works to their respective academic disciplines.
  • During the 2011-2012 academic year, Knox faculty published five books.
    
    
• The only remaining building from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates, Old Main has been designated a National Historic Landmark.
  
  
• Knox consistently is ranked among the best colleges in the country by the Washington Monthly, Huffington Post, Forbes, Sierra Club and US News.
  
  
• Knox's newly renovated athletic facilities -- Memorial Gym and Knosher Bowl -- are used by local junior athletic teams for competitions and area-wide tournaments.
