Community service is a long-standing tradition at Knox College, one that students, staff, and faculty engage in enthusiastically.
All Knox students receive e-mail listings or mail postings throughout the year detailing volunteer opportunities which they can sign up for, either online or in person at the Center. Email volunteer@knox.edu for more information.
During First Year Orientation, the Center meets and greets all new students when they arrive on campus to promote volunteerism as a way to make new friends and get involved in the Galesburg community.
For all students, the annual Carnival of Clubs is the first place for students to sign up to volunteer for events that happen during the first two weeks of school.
Volunteer events and projects can be designed by students. Learn moreMany of our volunteer partners are located within easy walking distance from the College. In other cases the Center provides bus or cab transportation for volunteers who make long-term commitments to our annual volunteer programs. In addition, many clubs on campus receive money from Student Senate to defray transportations costs for their events, fundraisers and service projects. Rental vehicles are also available.
Some volunteer programs require students to attend an orientation and fill out an application. In a few cases, our partners perform background checks and/or conduct interviews. The Center will always include information about these requirements in their advertisements.
