Alumni in Residence Dan Taylor Coming To Knox

Dan Taylor '72

By Celina Dietzel '17

There are few things more valuable for college students than hearing from successful people who have been where they are now. That is the inspiration behind Knox's new Alumni in Residence program.

Dan Taylor '72 will be the first Alumni in Residence, coming to Knox September 26-29 to share with students the ways in which he has found success.

He will deliver his keynote presentation, "Knox Story & Life After Knox" at 7 p.m. in the Alumni Hall Trustees Room following a reception at 6 p.m. This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Register online by Friday, September 23.

The Alumni in Residence program is hosted by the Office of Alumni Relations and the Bastian Family Career Center's Knox Networking Program (Knect). The series will bring in a variety of alumni, of various career paths, to share insights with Knox students.

Taylor is a senior vice president at Pittsburgh's PNC Bank and oversees retail operations at 14 regional branches. He has also worked for Ford Motor Company and Infinity Broadcasting and spent more than 10 years as an NCAA Division I Basketball official.

Taylor was a prominent leader on campus, serving as captain of the basketball team, a resident hall assistant, and a founding member of ABLE (Allied Blacks for Liberty and Equality).

While visiting Knox, Taylor will discuss with students such topics as social media, the influence sociology has had on his career, and the price that comes with success. He will also meet with ABLE members and both the men's and women's basketball teams.

The Alumni in Residence program will bring five other alumni to Knox, either virtually or on campus, during the 2016 fall term:

  • Gene Procknow ‘76, Managing Principal-Government Relations at Deloitte LLP
  • Keith Lee ‘94, Managing Director at H/2 Capital Partners
  • Randy Strickland ‘90, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Detail to the Chicago Police Department
  • Cindy Wilson ‘82, Clinical Professor of Law & Director of the Center for Externships at Northwestern University
  • Kurt Carlson ‘76, Internal Medicine, Mayo Clinic
